Remembering Timothy Norman Stinson

Stinson, Timothy Norman (AKA Timshkee, Brud)

Timothy Norman Stinson of Rama First Nation, passed away peacefully the afternoon of July 3rd, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was known as someone who made others smile and laugh often with his “one of a kind sense of humor, and quick wit”. He was a tease and a jokester but behind all of those jokes was a very sincere person befriending you with his wit. He used this to care, have your back and what that meant was him telling you what he saw in you that was likely something admirable in you. He was also described as someone who loved his family fiercely and not being one to say a lot, but some how he made sure you knew he was there whenever you needed him.

Tim was the eldest son of loving parents Carrie L. Stinson and Norman V. Stinson and predeceased by wife Janet Lynn Stinson. He was a loving father to Dan, Sarah and Laura Lei Stinson, and took joy in spending time with his beautiful granddaughters Laila Stinson and Olivia Welna, and grandsons Taylor Stinson (who will always hold close his memories of “Papa toe toe”), Sawyer Stinson, and great grandson Benny “hen” Stinson. He was a loving brother to Curtis and Chris Stinson, Tony Sharpe and sisters Lolly Kensit, Sherry Garcia, Deanne Walmsley and big sister Rebecca Sawyer. An Uncle, he will be greatly missed by Chris, Marsha, Jessica, and Curtis Jr. as well as Justin and Alex (Alleycats), and Joe Stinson as well. He will be remembered and dearly missed by many other extended family members and friends as well.

Tim was a respected Ojibwe artist of Rama First Nation and was known for his culturally significant paintings and murals. He was a respected figure in the community having served on the Rama Fire

Department and was the recipient of the Fire Services Exemplary Service medal for his public safety contributions. Tim and his son ventured into business together and built Bare Butts Smoke also featuring local native

artisans. They have used the business to support community sports and made annual donations in support of education bursaries to post secondary students and the Ojibway immersion program which they were very proud of.

Tim loved a good round of golf, was a snooker and pool player. He played regularly with siblings and many friends. He traveled to Vegas, Border Battle and the Northeast Challenge Connecticut playing the game he loved.

We will miss our son, brother, Father, Papa Uncle and friend. His unwavering love, laughter, wit and charm will live forever on in our hearts.

A Funeral service will be held at the Rama Community Hall, 5950 Rama Rd, Rama, on Wednesday July 8, with visitation at 12 pm and the service starting at 1 pm. Following refreshments at the hall, A Celebration of Life will be held at brother, Curtis Stinsons’ home at 6461 Rama Rd. All are welcome.

Inurnment, Rama Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please feel free to make donations to the Rama Food Bank.
