Remembering Velma Perrault 'Val'

On Monday, April 13, 2026, Velma (Val) Lucraise Perrault nee Laurin passed away peacefully at the Georgian Bay General Hospital, Midland at the age of 94.

Val was the beloved and devoted wife of Donald Perrault for 72 years. Loving Mother of Cathy (Garth) Calvert and predeceased by son, Steven Perrault. Special Mother-in-law of Elke (Scott) Middleton. Cherished Grandmother of Robert Calvert, Megan (Leigh) Clarke and Brian Calvert. Great Grandmother (Nan) of Ethan and Ava Calvert, Benjamin Clarke, Xander and Vallory Calvert.

Velma was the last surviving child of the late Francis and Delianne Laurin and has joined her brother Bernard (Helen) Laurin and her sisters Yvonne (John) Goberis and Marilyn (John) Bourrie.

In her early life Val ran her own hairdressing business (Val's Beauty Shoppe) on Fourth Street in Midland. After marrying Don they moved to Nova Scotia where Don was posted as a Naval pilot. While there, they welcomed their children Cathy and Steven. Their many military postings took them all across Canada. Retirement brought them full circle to Midland where they enjoyed boating and spending time with their 3 grandchildren and later with their 5 great grandchildren. Val was a long time member of the Catholic Women's League.

There will be a Funeral Mass of the Resurrection at St Margaret's Parish in Midland 589 Hugel Ave. on Monday April 27, starting at

2 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church 1 hour prior to Mass for visitation. Following the Mass, a reception will be held at Carson Funeral Home, 290 First St. in Midland. In lieu of flowers donations to the elevator fund at St. Margaret's Church, Midland would be appreciated.
