Remembering Carolyn Tumber

Carolyn Ruth Tumber (nee LeMaitre)

October 28, 1939 - January 2, 2026

Carolyn Tumber passed away suddenly, at home, with her husband, Ron, at her side, Friday January 2nd, 2026, at the age of 86. Carolyn was the only child of Walter and Carrie LeMaitre (Fielding); dearly beloved wife of Ron for 64 years; loving mother of Colleen McKerry (David, deceased), Erin Wilkinson (Terry), and Mark (Christine); dear grandmother of Ben (Nipuni), Sean, Kaylyn (Jonah), Katie (Josh), Lyndsey (Ashley); and, great-grandmother to Bodhi, Caia, Levi, Harper, and Maddie.

Carolyn worked as a physiotherapist in the Weston area, until retiring with Ron and establishing a Bed and Breakfast in the Georgian Bay District of Muskoka. During her retirement years, Carolyn was successful in researching her McLeod and Indigenous roots, thus enabling her family to become proud members of the Metis Nation of Ontario. Most winters were spent in beautiful Bermuda, and she and Ron managed to fulfill their worldly travel wishes.

After selling their lakeside retirement home, Carolyn and Ron moved to Midland, and then to the Georgian Village, in Penetanguishene. Carolyn held various volunteering positions and loyally cheered on her Blue Jays. She loved to knit and crochet. Carolyn donated many needed items to Orillia’s Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, seniors’ homes, and hundreds of preemie babies have been wrapped in her beautiful blankets.

Guests will be received for visitation at Carson Funeral Home, 290 First St. in Midland on Wednesday January 7th 2026 from 2 to 6 pm. The funeral for Carolyn will take place the following day, Thursday January 8th at St. Mark’s Anglican-Lutheran Church located at 307 Third St. in Midland starting at 1:30 pm. A reception will follow on site at the church. For anyone wishing to watch the service live the service will be livestreamed at  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJ-EheTkACsnfsALNJWPNWA  . A private interment will take place in the spring at St. Mark’s Cemetery in Midland.

As an expression of sympathy, donations, in memory of Carolyn, may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to St. Mark’s Anglican-Lutheran Church in Midland, Ontario.

Ron and family; what a beautiful celebration of Carolyn’s life today…just how ‘she’ wanted it ! The stories were heartfelt, the Bible passages meaningful, the songs uplifting, and the photos and memories were lovely. 7. Linda Barr

My deepest condolences to Ron, Mark, Christine & family. We spent many years going to Christ Church in Waubaushene together. Ron & Caroline took my daughter under their wing before her first communion and she spent many hours each week boating and swimming with them in the summer. Carolyn will be remembered by me for being so kind, full of enthusiasm and love. Her zest for life was contagious to all around her. There wasn’t a time we would meet that she didn’t stop to chat. She will be forever missed by me.

  8. Mark Tumber

  11. Lisa Osanic

Heartfelt condolences to Ron, Colleen, Erin, and Mark and the Tumber family. Carolyn/Aunt Carolyn was an amazing woman. She was a very positive and upbeat person. Her laugh made you laugh alongside her. She had so much energy. We had wonderful times going on trips together all over Ontario and Quebec including visiting Carolyn and Ron in Bermuda and many stories from times at the cottage. We are going to miss Carolyn very much. Thinking of you all during this difficult time. Love Brian and Alla Gower, Lisa Osanic, and Anita Kapustin

  12. Marlene Miller (Spence)

Carolyn and I grew up together on Lawrence Ave, in Weston. Later in life, we realized that we had a family connection through my Uncle George. Also, as strange as it seems, her daughter, Colleen, is a neighbour of my son and daughter-in-law in Beeton. As we realize what a small world we live in, I also see her brother and sister-in-law, Bea and Ken, regularly in Barrie. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this very difficult time.

  13. Barbara Moore

Carolyn, will be remembered for genuine personality. We are thinking of the entire, Tumber Family. Jim & Barb Moore
