David “Troy” Dwinnell
July 15, 1966 – December 3, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David “Troy” Dwinnell, who left us peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Orillia in 1966, Troy is lovingly remembered by his wife, Donna (née McDonald), and their children, David and Emily. He will be deeply missed by his parents, David and Mary Dwinnell of Orillia; his sisters Debra (Calvin Carter) of Beverly, Massachusetts, and Melanie (Jamie LePage) of Orillia; and his brothers Shannon (Nelda Gabriel) of Matthews, North Carolina, and David Bishop (Tracy Bishop) of Innisfil, Ontario.
Troy’s legacy continues through his nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart: Caleb and Joshua May; Jonah and Nathyn Goss; Nicole Grissett and Elizabeth Dwinnell; and Jacob, Robert, Braydon, and Cassandra Bishop. He is also remembered with love by his mother-in-law Loretta McDonald of Washago, his sister-in-law Patti McDonald (Mitch Thomlison) of Kemptville, Ontario, and by the memory of his late father-in-law Len McDonald and brother-in-law Jim McDonald.
Troy will be remembered for his sharp wit, his boundless generosity, and his love of family. Known for his warmth and ability to connect with anyone, he never met a stranger. Many will recall his work at Keystone Automotive and True North Music, where his passion and kindness touched countless lives.
He had a gift for recognizing potential in others and offering opportunities to those who needed them most - acts of compassion that helped many thrive. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mariposa House Hospice or Canadian Cancer Society in Troy’s memory.
Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life on Sunday, December 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Carson Funeral Homes – L. Doolittle Chapel in Orillia.
