Peacefully at Champlain Manor, Orillia with family by her side on Tuesday May 30, 2023 at the age of 84. Birdie Canning of Orillia, beloved wife of 65 years to Clarence Canning. Loving mother of Lorne (Gail), Carl, Heather Dingwall, Keith (Charlene), Karen (Tim) Marriott, Phillip (Barb), Morris, Barry (Karen) and George predeceased. Loved grandmother of Crystal, Chad, Brent, Laura, Matthew, Alicia, Amanda, Cassandra, Bridgette and Travis. Cherished great grandmother of Alexander, Evelina and Adrian. Dear sister of Clara Sears (Ted predeceased), brother Clarence (Mabel) Burnett both predeceased, brother Fred Burnett predeceased and surviving wife Lorna and sister-in-law of Rean Canning. Birdie will be missed by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Champlain Manor for all of the care that was given to Birdie. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home 54 Coldwater Street E., Orillia, Ontario 705-326-3595 on Tuesday June 6, 2023 from 2-4 & 6:30-8:30. A private family interment will be held on Wednesday June 7, 2023 at St. Andrew’s St. James’ Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association would be appreciated.
