After a painful and exhausting 10-day battle at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Paul Norman Martin passed away, finally at peace, on October 24, 2026, a day after being discharged back to Spencer House. Paul was always a determined, little fighter. In spite of a difficult birth on July 31, 1960 and later diagnosed with a rare genetic syndrome, Paul learned how to read, write, and do arithmetic first at home and then at school.
He was the beloved, only child, of Norman and Grace (nee Johnston) Martin. Living most of his life with his parents on their farm near Sutton, Ontario he developed a profound love of animals. He enjoyed being part of his community in Sutton and Keswick and often told his cousins on outings that everyone knew him which seemed to be true as when he was out in the community many people would say “Hi, Paul!” to him. His broad, charming smile, infectious laughter and hilarious comments did make him memorable.
He will always be part of the souls of his cousins, Anne and Jim, who were always close to his family and saw him through his challenging battle with dementia these many years. We wish to thank his friends, community and caregivers in Sutton, Keswick and Orillia for helping Paul in his journey through this life.
There will be a private viewing at Carson Funeral Homes with a grave side service. Interment with his parents will be at Atherley Union Cemetery near Orillia, Ontario.
