Remembering Rita Dann

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Rita Dann, a woman of immense strength, wit and kindness. Born Nov 2, 1934. Rita passed Oct 12, 2026. Leaving an unfillable void in many lives.

Rita is survived by her loving daughters Joanne (Bill) and Jennifer (Jonathan). She was an adored Nana to Tyler (Ariel) and Cory (Mary Grace) Akerfeldt and Caiden Holling and Great Nana to Mason Dann and Waylon Henry. She will also be fondly remembered by Linda and Dave Blair.

Rita’s vibrant personality made her a joy to be around, she was known for her generosity and her bold, kind and caring nature was evident in everything she did. She was a witty woman, a force of nature whose lessons were to always stand up for your beliefs and principles. Her favorite color pink mirrored her lively spirit.

In her leisure, Rita found comfort in the simplicity of games like euchre and cribbage, she loved to indulge in crossword puzzles and reading books and even found immense joy in balancing her check book. She enjoyed black coffee, vodka and water and Baileys over ice, not necessarily in that order.

Rita was a great fan of T.V. shows like Blue Bloods and anything to do with Al Jolson. Her favorite vacation spots were the beautiful Anna Maria Island and the farm in Ocala Florida where she made countless cherished memories.

Rita was a larger-than-life personality who enriched every space she was part of. Her passing is a significant loss, but her lively spirit and precious memories will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Rita’s life will take place at the Akerfeldt home located at 16203 Hwy 50, Bolton, ON L7E 3J6 on November 7th, 2026, from 1p.m. – 4p.m. It will be an occasion to recall fond memories, share stories and honor the remarkable woman that Rita was.
