Marie Lise Denise Mowat passed away peacefully at home after a 12 year courageous battle with cancer. Beloved mother to Alex and Christian, daughter to Annette Mowat, sister to Martine Mowat, Vlad Bortnowski and Mirela Luca, aunt to Madeleine Mowat-Carmet and Maxim Bortnowski, predeceased by her father Frank Mowat.
Denise grew up in Toronto and attended St. Joseph’s Morrow Park High School. She graduated from Humber College as a Youth Counsellor and worked at Thistle Town and then Peel Region Catholic School for 30 years assisting young people in crisis. Denise was quick to laugh, humble and incredibly kind. Denise will be terribly missed by her circle of friends: Lillian, Jennifer, Caroline, Ilse, Stephanie, Siobhan and Laura. We will never forget her.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Carson Funeral Homes L Doolittle Chapel, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705) 326-3595 on Sunday October 25, 2026 from 2-4 with sharing of memories beginning at 3 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Orillia Youth Centre or the Orillia SPCA.
