Remembering Richard Tomkinson 'Rick'

Richard (Rick) Tomkinson passed away on September 25, 2026 at Mariposa House Hospice after a lengthy illness. Beloved husband and best friend of Nancy (nee Thomson), loving and devoted father to son Rob (Heather) and loving brother to Nancy. Predeceased by parents Bernice and Victor Tomkinson and brother Norman. Rick had a successful career in the office products industry, starting with Fellowes Manufacturing and ending with Acco Brands Canada. Rick was an all round athlete, hockey being his biggest passion. He was respected in the hockey world as a stellar goalie and played with a number of tournament teams in addition to his beloved Lumberjacks in Barrie. Rick and Nancy were avid boaters and snowmobilers. Rick was a handy guy to have around and could always be counted on by friends to help out with any type of work. He had a sharp wit and spoke his mind. Guests will be received at Carson Funeral Home 54 Coldwater St. E., in Orillia (705) 326-3595 on Wednesday September 30th, with visitation starting at 10 am until the time we celebrate his life in the chapel starting at 12 pm. A reception luncheon will follow on site. The family would like this opportunity to especially thank all of the wonderful staff at Mariposa House Hospice for all of their loving care and support given to Rick and our family. Thank you.
