It’s time to take the foot off the pedal, remove the running shoes, put away the ski wax and lay down the paddle. Don died peacefully in his 90th year on Friday September 4, 2026.
Loving husband of Ann and father to Susan (Ian) and Heather (Mike). Much loved grandfather of Jamie (Deena), Briar (Travis), Connor (Rachael), Rob (Christie) and Taylor (predeceased). Great grandfather of Dylan, Emma, Reece, Madi and Nora. Predeceased by his parents Marg and Cam Budge. Brother of Peter.
Born in Montreal. Attended McGill (B Com) and Queens (MBA) moving to Caledon in 1980 and to the Orillia area in 1994. Don spent many years in the Plumbing and Steels Industries mostly in senior positions both in Manufacturing and distribution. He loved the outdoors. Orienteering and running marathons. Canoeing and canoe trips in the Laurentians and Ontario. X country skiing and biking both mountain and road. Much of it with Ann including multiple trips throughout Canada and the US in their VW Camper.
If you choose to remember Don with a charitable donation please consider the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital where Don volunteered for over 15 years. In accordance with Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private burial service will be held in Montreal at a later date.
