Remembering George Ernest Kent 'Peewee'

In Loving Memory of George Ernest “Peewee” Kent It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Ernest “Peewee” Kent, born October 24, 1952, in Orillia, Ontario. Following a brief illness, Peewee passed peacefully on August 30, 2026 surrounded by his family and embraced in love.

Peewee spent much of his life in Alberta, living his dream of the cowboy life in the mountains and with his treasured horses before retiring in 2020, allowing extra time with his family in Ontario over the last six years.

Throughout his life, he worked a variety of jobs, always willing to work hard and do whatever was needed to provide for his family. Above all else, Peewee was a father. He lovingly raised his two children, Lisa Ligers and Tim Kent, on his own, often working two or even three jobs to make ends meet. He worked hard to give his children the best life he could, and his dedication and love for them will always be one of his greatest legacies.

He was a proud grandfather to Natalie Kent, Lily Kent, Will Ligers, and Mia Ligers, and was deeply loved by his family.

Predeceased by his parents, Andy and Nancy Kent, Peewee will be lovingly remembered by his children, Lisa Ligers (Juris Ligers) and Tim Kent (Brenda Smale); his brother and best friend, Jim Kent (Barbara Kent); his sisters, Melody Staszko (Mike Staszko) and Susan Morris (Dave Morris); extended family and lifelong friend John MacCrimmon.

We are incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff at OSMH for their kind and compassionate care of Dad during his final days. We will forever hold the nurses in Harvey, dialysis, and Emergency, especially Nurse Sara, in our hearts.

We are also deeply grateful to Dr. Abbas, Dr. Fernandes, Dr. Evans, and Dr. Vimalendran for the care, kindness, and dignity they showed Dad and our family during such a difficult time. Because of the exceptional care Dad received, donations to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital or Mariposa House Hospice are gratefully requested.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Peewee’s Life will be held at Carson Funeral Homes – L. Doolittle Chapel on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 1:00–4:00 p.m., with the sharing of memories beginning at 2:00 p.m.

He will be remembered for the life he built, the sacrifices he made for his family, and, most importantly, for the love he gave to those closest to him. Whether you knew him as George or Peewee, he will always be loved.
