Remembering Melinda Sue Williams (nee Trombly)

Williams, Melinda

It is with profound sadness, the Williams family announces the passing of Melinda Sue Williams (née Trombly) on August 16, 2026.

Born May 17, 1952, Melinda was an incredible light and an absolute firecracker. She brought immeasurable joy, laughter and love to everyone who knew her and had a gift for making people feel seen, supported and, most importantly, believed in. Melinda was always there to lend a hand, offer encouragement, solve a problem, or figure out how to make things happen. She took genuine joy in helping the people she loved accomplish their goals and was so proud of all they did. She believed in people —sometimes even more than they believed in themselves.

She is survived by her husband Bill, her daughters Sara (Mike) Bentham and Jessica (Tommy) Williams. She was a bada** Grammy to Avery, Griffin, Nicky and Sam.

She is also survived by her beloved siblings Joe (Betty) Trombly, Debbie (Terry) Knox, and Remi Trombly, sister-in-law Eleanor Taylor-McNichol, and brother-in-law Gord (Jan) Williams.

She will be incredibly missed by her many nieces and nephews who all treasure their memories of times shared with her. Life won’t be the same without “Aunt Toots.” The scores of aunts, uncles and cousins from the Sproule family were especially dear to her. Family was always at the centre of Melinda’s world.

“Sunday Fundays,” sunsets at Floral Park, crazy stories and time with her best friends were precious to her. She believed in making ordinary moments special and never missed an opportunity to celebrate. Making every holiday, especially Christmas, an event was one of Melinda’s greatest joys. She brought the laughter and magic to every gathering.

Her credo was simple: “You can never have enough hats.”

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 12th. Drop in between 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., with remarks at 4. For information on the location please email: melinda.williams.celebration@gmail.com.

Melinda! You gave us Sara and Jessica and what a gift. Thank you. I remember meeting you for the first time around 2014 and you had that little shock of coloured hair. I thought….wow….this a woman of purpose and fun. I grew to know that. I will miss you, but thank you for your children and grandchildren. I love them all. JP

I honestly have no words. I am still in complete shock and find it so hard to believe that Melinda is no longer with us. Melinda came into my life first as a colleague, but over the years, she became so much more than that — she became a dear friend. What started as a working relationship grew into a friendship filled with laughter, wonderful memories, and so many moments that I will treasure forever. Melinda was such a joy to be around. She had a warmth and a spirit that made you feel good simply by being in her company. And her sense of humour was truly like no other. She could make me laugh when I least expected it, and so many of our conversations and adventures ended with so many good laughs. I will especially cherish our yearly Christmas shopping tradition. It was something we both looked forward to, and those days together became so much more than just shopping. They were our time to catch up, laugh, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company. I will miss those days — and her — more than I can put into words. It is incredibly difficult to say goodbye to someone who brought so much joy into my life. I feel very fortunate to have known Melinda, to have worked alongside her, and most of all, to have had the privilege of calling her my friend. I will miss her dearly. I will miss her laughter, her humour, her friendship, and all those little moments that I never imagined would one day become precious memories. My heart goes out to Melinda’s family and to everyone who loved her. I hope they find some comfort in knowing just how much she meant to the people whose lives she touched. Melinda was truly one of a kind. She will never be forgotten, and she will always have a very special place in my heart. I am so sorry I won't be able to say goodbye to her on Sept. 12 as we will be out of town. Know that my heart and thoughts will be with you on that day. Veronique
