Marlene Jean Readman (née Robertson) passed away peacefully at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus Ontario on July 25, 2026 with her son and daughter by her side.
Born in 1942, to Gilbert and Jean Robertson Marlene lived a life rooted in family, faith and compassion for others.
In 1965 she married Ron Readman in Orillia, ON. Together Marlene and Ron began building their life on a farm, before later moving to the city. It was there that Marlene served with kindness and dedication as she devoted her entire nursing career to Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
Marlene truly shined brightest once she became a mother to Chris and Marcia. She was a constant support and cheerleader in every life event her kids took on. She was always present and cheering at Chris’s hockey games and would never miss sitting center stage to listen to Marcia’s vocal performances. The pride and love she had for her kids was always evident.
Marlene is also lovingly remembered by her dear sister Eleanor Graham (Rob.) She always enjoyed family gatherings including special times spent with Ron’s sisters Joyce Graham (Harold) and Brenda Telford (Roy, predeceased) as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Welcoming Marcia’s husband Gord and Chris’s wife Tina was easy for Marlene as it simply meant enlarging her family and her circle of love.
Time spent with her grandchildren were truly her most loved experiences. Hannah, Gordie, Brooke and Connor were her pride and joy - and everyone knew it! Marlene was further blessed with two great-grandchildren Henley and Braelynn.
Marlene loved her family deeply and enjoyed life’s simple pleasures - camping with Ron, puzzles and following her favourite teams; the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays and her curling.
She will forever be remembered for her kindness, dedication and the love she gave so freely to her family across every generation.
Cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. The family would like to offer a sincere thank you to the staff at Groves Memorial Hospital. Special thanks go to Dr Martin, Dr Muldoon and End of Life Nurse Paulette as well as nurses Kathlyn and Claire and PSW Doris. They were companionate & caring in the final days ensuring all the wishes of both Marlene and the family were directly addressed and carried out.
