It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ronald James Thompson on Monday June 15, 2026, at the age of 80.
A devoted husband to his wife, Brenda Thompson for 44 years. Loving father to Marney Lindsay (William) and Steven Thompson (Jennifer) and proud grandfather of Cameron and Ashley Lindsay, Abby, Noah and Ava Thompson and many extended family members, friends, neighbors, and former colleagues.
Ron lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. He was the kind of person who could always be counted on to lend a hand and offer practical advice. Ron worked as a lineman for 34 years in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, a career that reflected his strong work ethic, courage, and dedication to serving his community. He took great pride in his work and in the friendships, he built throughout his career. Following his retirement, he and Brenda made their home in Brechin, Ontario, where he enjoyed a well-earned retirement.
When Ron was not spending time with family, he could often be found in his workshop. He loved tinkering, fixing, building, and creating. There seemed to be little he couldn't repair, and he found great satisfaction in solving problems and helping others with his skills. His workshop was a place of creativity, purpose, and countless projects completed with care and precision. When he was not in the workshop, Ron enjoyed spending time on the golf course, where appreciated the camaraderie, fresh air and simple pleasure of a good round of golf with his family and friends.
Those who knew Ron, will remember his kindness, his sense of humor, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, hard work, and compassion that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
While we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he passed away peacefully and that the love he shared throughout his life will remain with us always. Ron will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated PSW’s and home care nursing team’s of Orillia, ON for their compassionate care and support, which allowed Ron to remain in the home he loved. Your kindness, dedication, and friendship will never be forgotten.\
Respecting Ron’s wishes, a cremation will take place, and a Celebration of Life for family and friends will take place in July. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Ron’s memory.

Jun 24, 2026It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our dear friend and neighbour, Ron. Ron was the kind of person who was always there whenever anyone needed a helping hand. No matter what the task was, big or small, he would show up ready to help, offering his time, knowledge and support without hesitation. At the cottage, it was a familiar and comforting sight to see Ron on his tractor cutting the grass, always hard at work and taking pride in everything he did. At the end of the day, you could often find him on the dock enjoying his 5 o’clock happy hour sharing laughter and the wisdom he had gathered throughout his life. There was never a shortage of good conversation when Ron was around. He was one of the hardest working people we knew, but more importantly he was a kind, generous and genuine friend. What started off as a neighbourly connection quickly became a treasured friendship and over the years Ron became like family to so many of us. His presence brought warmth, friendship and a sense of community to the lake. The countless memories we shared, the laughs on the dock and the helping hand he was always willing to offer will stay with us forever. Ron will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. While our hearts are heavy we are grateful for the time shared with him and for the lasting impact he has made in our lives.
