Remembering Gavin Alexander Russell

Passed suddenly at home on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in his 45th year. Gavin was the loving son of Marilyn and the late Jim Russell; cherished brother of Devon (Jason) Minler; and proud uncle to Teva Minler.

Gavin will be deeply missed by his sons, Hartley and Quinlan, and their mother Jessica Craig with whom he shared many years of life, friendship, and family. Gavin was loved deeply by many and was truly the life of any gathering. He had the gift of making people feel welcome and cared for, and would strike up a conversation with just about anyone.

A dedicated registered nurse at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Gavin took great pride in caring for others throughout his career. Above all else, he loved his boys. Some of his happiest moments were spent throwing the football around with Hartley, playing chess with Quinlan, golfing with the boys, and just goofing around together. He also loved skiing, travelling, sports, and music of all kinds, especially heavy metal.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Carson Funeral Homes – L. Doolittle Chapel, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., with words of remembrance at 4:00 p.m. to celebrate Gavin’s life.

If desired, memorial donations made to the Mental Health Ward at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Orillia would be appreciated by the family.
