Trudy Reynolds, 74, of Orillia, Ontario, passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2026 at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital.
Born on October 18, 1952, in Koblenz, Germany, to Sophia and Ernest Sauer. The family immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1959.
Trudy is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Reynolds, daughter Bridget Forshaw, son Christopher Reynolds, daughter-in-law Lesley Reynolds, and her beloved grandchildren, Olivia and Grace Legros. She will also be lovingly remembered by her brother-in-laws Randy Reynolds, and Gord Reynolds, her nephews and nieces Derek Reynolds, Cheryl Pilieci, Peter and Paul Sauer, and Kim Oleszczyk.
Trudy’s friends and family will sorely miss her positive attitude, bubbly personality, sunny disposition and beautiful smile. She was always generous with her time and would give the shirt off her back to help a friend in need. She was well known for her love of animals, especially dogs. She had a devoted clientele when she was a dog groomer and many of her clients become beloved friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Trudy’s memory to the Jean Tweed Centre by calling 416-255-7359 ext 278 and making a “Tribute gift” in Trudy’s name or by sending a donation directly to happysplacedogs@gmail.com and putting the name Trudy Reynolds in the message field to donate funds towards the next senior Schnauzer that comes into their care. It would make her so happy to know that out of tragedy, she could save the life of a homeless Schnauzer!
About the Jean Tweed Centre:
The Jean Tweed Centre is a leading not-for-profit community-based organization that provides treatment, support and a safe place for women looking to overcome challenges with substance use, gambling and mental health. By building life skills and healthy habits, we help our clients build a new start for a better future.
About Happy’s Place rescue:
Our Mission: The majority of the senior dogs in our care are transferred to us from shelters. The dogs we rescue are at a higher risk of euthanasia due to old age, and/or medical needs. We also sometimes welcome owner surrenders including cases where dog guardians can no longer care for their senior dog due to their own health, have passed away, or other reason. We are a 100% not for profit rescue.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Trudy’s life will be held on Sunday May 31, 2026 from 1-4 P.M. with sharing of memories beginning at 2:30 P.M. at Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705) 326-3595.
