Remembering Evelyn Louise Dubois 'Louise'

Louise “Lou/Grandma” Dubois (née Reeve)
October 15, 1954 – April 14, 2026

Louise (Lou, Mom, Grandma) Dubois, age 71, of Midland, Ontario, passed away on April 14, 2026, just one week after sharing a beautiful Easter weekend with her family.

Born on October 15, 1954, in Galt, Ontario, Louise was the daughter of Douglas and Marion Reeve, and sister to Glen (Norma), Ross (Jo-Anne), and Harry (Sue).

She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law: Jenn and Sean, Laura and Kevin, and Heather and Anand, as well as her greatest joys—her grandsons Jack, Ben, Lincoln, and Carson. Louise loved her daughters deeply and took great pride in her three wonderful sons-in-law, but her love for her four grandchildren was truly unconditional.

She raised her three daughters while earning her degree in Adult Education from Brock University, demonstrating remarkable strength and determination. This led to a career at Georgian College, where she made a lasting impact as a career counsellor. Whether helping someone prepare for an interview or providing much-needed clothing or food, her compassion and gift for recognizing people’s strengths made her a steady source of support during pivotal moments in their lives.

Her compassion extended far beyond her career. With friends and family, she had a nurse’s knack and was quick to offer a mustard plaster, a well-loved Kleenex, or expertly remove a splinter. Above all, she loved helping others in any way she could.

Louise found joy in life’s simple, meaningful pleasures. With green thumbs (and toes), she loved spending time gardening, surrounded by the sounds of birds and nature—though she enjoyed a cold beer or a hot coffee almost as much.

Many who knew her enjoyed her homemade pickles, peanut brittle, baked beans, and chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. She was always ready with a road trip picnic, complete with a “bag of veg,” hard-boiled eggs, and her signature pre-mixed salt and pepper.

She loved games and puzzles, a good project, a potluck, and a well-organized calendar. Though an introvert at heart, she could often be found joking around, dancing, or even leg wrestling her way through a gathering.

Louise always looked forward to family holidays, FOB, her book club, and sleepovers with her grandkids. She had a quick wit, was lovingly stubborn, fiercely competitive, and loyal beyond measure.

Louise leaves behind deep and cherished friendships—many lifelong and others more recent—too many to name, but all held closely in her heart.

There will be no visitation. A simple celebration of life will be held at a later date for close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to a charity of your chosing as a living tribute to Louise’s memory.

The space she leaves in the lives of those who loved her can never be filled but will be carried forward with love.
