November 15, 1939 – April 4, 2026
Donald James Woodrow passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, in his 87th year on April 4, 2026.
Don will be forever cherished by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carolyn Woodrow (née Edwards). He was a devoted and loving father to Heather Roberts (Marc), Krista Karn (Mike), and Kevin Woodrow (Andrea). His greatest joy was his role as “Poppy” to his treasured grandchildren: Olivia Karn, McKenna Karn, Gavin Woodrow, Kendal Roberts, Dylan Woodrow, and Blake Roberts, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Born to the late Mary and James Woodrow, Don is survived by his sister Jean Horne (Howard). He was predeceased by his sisters Margaret Reynolds (Allard), Marie Schandlen (Walter), and Alice Robinson (Bruce). Loved son-in-law, the late Roy and Roberta Edwards. He will also be fondly remembered by his extended family, including his brothers- and sisters-in-law: the late Lyle Edwards (Phillis), Blayne Edwards (Sandy), Sheila Dunn (the late Peter), and the late Norma Brown (Doug), as well as by his many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A lifelong farmer and respected businessman in Oro-Medonte, Don was deeply committed to his community. He gave generously of his time and energy, serving in numerous volunteer roles including the Coldwater Fair Board, Willis Jarratt Presbyterian Church, the Simcoe County Cattlemen’s Association, and as a director with the Federation of Agriculture. His dedication to public service also led him to serve as Deputy Reeve of Medonte and a councillor with Medonte township and County Council.
Don will be remembered as a kind, steady, and generous man whose love for his family was unwavering and whose quiet contributions made a lasting impact on his community.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at The Trillium Manor who cared for Don over the last two and a half years. They treated him with kindness, respect and dignity, we can’t say enough about the quality of care he was given.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s memory to your local food bank, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Hawk Ridge Golf in Orillia 1:00-4:00 pm. Remembrances at 2:00.
Arrangements entrusted to Carson Funeral Homes – L. Doolittle Chapel, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, ON L3V 1W5.

Apr 7, 2026Dear Carolyn, Heather, Krista , Kevin and all your families, So sorry for your loss. My earliest memory of Don is nearly sending hi. flying off the wagon as I drove the little gray Ford tractor gathering the sheaves for threshing at Jimmy and Sadie's. Unfortunately Linda and I will be out in Seattle visiting our oldest son Adam, Kim and grandsons Finn and Cole next week. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
