Remembering Dorothy Carol Looker (nee Fee)

Dorothy passed away peacefully at home in Washago, ON surrounded by her family, on March 19, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on November 23, 1936, in Collingwood Township, Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Fred Looker (d. 2022), whom she first met at the age of nine. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and shared adventures.

Dorothy was a loving and devoted mother to Peter (d. 2019; Nancy) of York, SC; Glenn (Ann) of Dunkirk, MD; Maureen (d. 1964); Colleen (Steve) of Guelph, ON; and Andrew (Debra) of Kingwood, TX. She was a proud grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of seven. She was predeceased by her sister Lois (d. 2004) and is lovingly remembered by her sister Lucille as well as many nieces and nephews.

A graduate of the Women’s College Hospital School of Nursing in Toronto in 1957, Dorothy enjoyed a fulfilling career in obstetrics, working across Ontario and California. In 1977, she chose to dedicate herself fully to raising her family—a role she embraced with unwavering love and commitment. Mom deeply valued the lifelong friendships she formed with her nursing classmates, neighbours and fellow church parishioners.

Mom and dad had many happy years travelling on the open road. Seemingly they never got lost, which was due to mom's insatiable love for maps. Dorothy and Fred also had a passion for boating and were proud members of the Guelph Power Squadron. They had many memorable adventures on the Chipmunk II with friends and family.

Mom found deep joy in sharing the skills she loved with her family. She delighted in teaching the next generations everything from sewing to baking her prize-winning buns, the latter of which won her first place at the county fair in Palmetto, FL. She left behind not only her creations, but also the knowledge and passion to carry them on. Mom took immense joy in inspecting each new attempt, always offering encouragement along with the cherished “Dorothy Seal of Approval.”

Mom’s strength, generosity, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
