Remembering Beverly Barnsdale

With heavy hearts, we share the news of Beverly Catherine Barnsdale's passing on January 3rd, 2026. Born in Toronto in August 1939 to Archie and Mildred Cook, Bev and her siblings Ann, Bruce, Gary, and Debbie forged an unbreakable bond after losing their mother at a young age. In her late teens, Bev met her soulmate, Keith Barnsdale, embarking on a remarkable 66-year marriage of love and companionship.

In the early 70s, Bev and Keith, along with their daughters Tammy and Karen, relocated to Lake St. George, where they later welcomed Kelly into their close-knit family. Bev dedicated many years to Simcoe Matic Canteen, managing the cafeteria at Georgian College until her well-earned retirement. Throughout her career, Bev's warmth and kindness earned her countless friendships that enriched her life.

The passage of time only strengthened Bev and Keith's commitment to their extended family. As they raised their daughters and later their grandchildren, family remained their top priority. Bev's role as a grandmother was where she truly shone, offering endless love, support, and wisdom to her grandchildren. These cherished memories and bonds will provide comfort and strength as we move forward.

Bev leaves behind her beloved Keith, daughters Tammy Ringwood (Trevor predeceased), Karen (Richard Aigeldinger), and Kelly (Gavin Watson). Her grandchildren Bryden, Brooke, Rebecca, Kate, Emma, Aidan, and Trent, along with great-grandson Bo, hold dear their fond memories of her. Bev's siblings, Ann and Barry Calderone (both predeceased), Gary Cook, Bruce (predeceased) and Pat Cook, and Debbie and Jim Kirwin, remained a significant part of each other's lives, and they will deeply miss their sister and best friend. The Cook/Barnsdale family has grown over the years, with many nieces and nephews feeling the profound loss of Auntie Bev.

In keeping with her final wishes, Bev has been cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date, where we will honor a life well lived.

  1. Gwen and Don Westgarth

The heavens have opened and accepted a beautiful soul. Bev was a truly remarkable person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The first time I met Bev, and her daughters at a very young age, Keith was working with Don, and we stayed at a motel in Minden. Bev was in the pool with the girls. The last time Don and I met Bev and Keith was at Costco around Christmas time. We once again shared many laughs. Warm hugs Keith and family you will be surrounded with beautiful memories.
