Our amazing mother, Margaret Ellen Hunt passed away on November 30, 2025 at the age of 87.
Beloved wife of the late Charles (Chuck). Ellen was a wonderful, supportive and loving mother to her daughter Deborah and her son Steven. Dear sister of Shirley and husband Bernie, Linda (predeceased) and surviving husband Eddie, Christine and husband Robert (predeceased), brother Richard and wife Sherry. Survived by her sister-in-laws Marguerite and Thereasa. Special surrogate “mom” to Linda and Dave, Ann and Kathy.
Ellen liked to say that she has three retirements. First from teaching grade school at the TDSB. Second from owning and operating a general store and gas station in Sebright. Lastly, from working at the pharmacy at Walmart.
Ellen went back to school in her late thirties to receive her Bachelor Degree from York University, majoring in Political Sciences. Ellen loved a lovely discussion on politics.
Ellen taught by example to be kind, strong and to persevere. She was loving, caring and respectful with everyone. She will be dearly missed.
At Ellen’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service at this time. There will be a celebration of her life in the spring 2026.
If desired, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements entrusted to Carson Funeral Homes L. Doolittle Chapel, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705) 326-3595.

Dec 8, 2025Ellen and I went all through public school in the one room school in Golden Valley and then high school at Argyle Continuation School in Port Loring. We are the same age and I remember her friendliness, her quiet ways and how clever she always was in school. Her family was one of the mainstays of Golden Valley and Ellen was a big part of that. She has lived away for many years but I remember her fondly.

Dec 4, 2025Dearest Debra & Steve Your Mom was indeed a very special lady. With a lovely soft voice,so very easy to listen to and a laugh that was always at the ready. Aunt Ellen didn’t look far to find the humour in most situations. What a wonderful gift to possess. Your parents came to our house the evening they were engaged. Full of smiles and so very, very happy. Their wedding was at our home inToronto,a very exciting day for everyone. Not to mention for a wide eyed eight year old ( that would be me lol) …your Mom looked so beautiful. How blessed you are to have had such an extraordinary Mother. She was so proud of you and cherished you both. How do I know? I could hear it in her voice whenever she spoke about her children. The difficult journey you have weathered these past months, while giving such great care and comfort to your Mom,is testimony to the strength and love within your family. I hope your grief will soon soften…making way for a flood of precious memories to fill your hearts. Just know, the love your Mom has for you has gone nowhere. Neither Death nor Time can ever take it from you…it will remain with you always. Sending Much Love, Colleen & Family
