Remembering Marilyn Gladys Irene Dennis (nee Mainer, Cockburn)

Dennis, Marilyn (Mainer, Cockburn)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Dennis on September 22, 2025, at Leacock Care Centre in Orillia.

Daughter of the late Ben and Gladys Mainer. Sister to Bob Mainer (predeceased) and Karen (Cooke Dean).

Marilyn was formerly married to the late Eric Cockburn, with whom they shared many years and raised four children. Karen (Gord), Dale (Glenna), late Don (Tina), and Dwight (Gail) survive her. Cherished Grandmother of Robert (Jessica), Kristen (Andrew), Michael (Yin), Stephanie, Eric (Karina), Samantha (Matthew), Victoria, Adam, Vanessa, and Benjamin.

Great-grandmother (GG) to Elliott, Raya, Madeline, Harlan, Walter, and Rosalie.

Loving wife of Lloyd Dennis (predeceased).

Born on June 21, 1940, Marilyn was a long-time proud resident of Orillia. She was a woman that loved meeting new people and going on adventures, which made her a natural real estate agent spanning a career over 40 years, ultimately retiring from Century 21 in her 70’s. When you had met Marilyn, she would always have a smile on her face and a story to tell.

Although Marilyn lived in various places throughout Orilla, she had cherished memories of living on the point with her beloved Lloyd. Spending time with family and friends brought her great joy, but she was also content with a novel in hand.

Cremation has already taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 1, 2025 from 1-4 P.M. at Couchiching Golf and Country Club, 370 Peter St. N., Orillia. Words of remembrance at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Mariposa House Hospice, or The Sharing Place. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Carson Funeral Homes – L. Doolittle Chapel, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705)326-3595.

We send our sincere condolences to all the family - a wonderful big family. We always enjoyed Marilyn's warm personality and cheerful, welcoming nature. We got to know Marilyn after she married Lloyd, and remember how devoted they were to each other, both of them brilliant in their own ways. She was so strong and caring, and we're very glad to have known her.
