McEnery, Francis “Brent”
Passed away on August 27, 2025, in Waterloo at the age of 70 surrounded by family.
Born on June 24, 1955, in Brampton, Ontario, Brent cherished his childhood spent at the family cottages. He spoke often and with great pride of his service in the Canadian Forces with the Lorne Scots during the 1970s, honoured to have served his country. His love of the outdoors and his commitment to service blended naturally during his many years with Scouts Canada. From Cub meetings to council gatherings to countless special events, Brent devoted himself wholeheartedly to volunteering with youth. He was privileged to serve not only as a leader, but also as a service scouter and district commissioner.
Officially a father to two, but a father figure to many, Brent was deeply proud of his sons and their accomplishments. Whether lending a hand, tools, or the steady hands holding those tools, he was always ready to support their projects. His generosity, warmth, and presence will be profoundly missed.
Brent is survived by his sons, Donald and Gregory (Amelia), his grandchildren, Zachary and Zoe, his brother, Shawn (Charlene) and his sister in law, Sue and his nieces Sharon (Steve) and Stephanie (Paul). He was predeceased by his father, Douglas, his mother, Gwendolyn, and his brother, Kenneth.
Friends and family will be received at Carson Funeral Home – J.H. Lynn Chapel (705) 526- 6551, located at 290 First St. in Midland on Friday September 5, 2025 from 11am until the time we celebrate his life in the chapel starting at 12 pm. A reception luncheon will follow onsite. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Canada or the SPCA and are greatly appreciated.

Aug 31, 2025I have many fond memories of Brent through Scouting, at meetings, camps and working with the youth. Although we had not stayed in touch, I would think of him often. Another Scouter gone home too soon.
