Remembering Donald Paul Thomson

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Paul Thomson, 79, of Ardtrea.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of more than 50 years, Judi, and his children: Lisa (Ted Roop) and Andrew (Krista Telford) as well as his grandchildren Grace and Thomas Roop and Alisha and Parker Thomson.

He was the son of Frank and Ruth Thomson of Ardtrea and brother to David (Milena), Richard (Beverley), Jane (John McLauchlin), Judy (Mike Whitley), Barb Thomson (Karl Annis) and Michael, (predeceased, Marilyn Joseph).  He enjoyed time spent with neighbours and friends in Ontario and Florida and his many nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered also by sister-in-law Jill Vyse (Steve, predeceased) and family.

Following in a multi-generational family tradition, Donald was a life-long farmer, graduating from the Ontario Agricultural College and working in various crop-related industries before returning to the home farm to partner with his father and brothers as a dairy producer and cash cropper. Son Andrew strives to carry on the tradition.

A casual gathering to celebrate Don’s life will be held later. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements are finalized.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s memory may be made to the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation or charity of your choice and will be received by Carson Funeral Homes - L. Doolittle Chapel, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705) 326-3595.
