Remembering Timothy John Irvine

With great sadness we announce the passing of Timothy John Irvine (May 23, 1952 – August 6, 2025), 73 yrs old of Midland, Ontario. Predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Mae Haughton (June 23, 1931 -September 22, 2001)and his father Clifford Leonard Irvine (July 2, 1927 – September 30, 1984) and the love of his life, Irene Mary Szentes (May 3, 1952 – November 13, 2004).
Tim was born and raised in Midland and spent the first 17 years in Midland. After some high school issues with his “long hair” where he was suspended on a regular basis, because of his “long hair”, he moved to Toronto and met Irene. Together they had a great marriage and were blessed with two terrific children – Anitra (Mike) and Sean and five grandchildren: Amber, Cameron, Ethan, Alexis and Matthew. His children and grandchildren will think of him often.
Tim was the eldest in his family. His siblings, Brian (Janet), Charles (Cynthia), Glenn (Janet), Nancy (Eric – deceased February 17, 2014) and very special first cousins: James, Wayne (deceased November 27, 2013), Janie (Gary), Mary Louise (Gillies), will miss him dearly.
After graduating from Humber College in Toronto, Tim embarked on a career in photography and videography.
He was employed by CFTO TV where he was a videographer, but found his passion as a newborn baby photographer and worked for Canadian Baby Photographer.
His pictures adorn many houses throughout the GTA and beyond.
He also shot many weddings, bah mitzvahs, sports teams and family portraits.
Tim enjoyed hockey as a child and was one of the lucky older kids who was allowed to shovel the ice between games at the old Midland Arena before the arena staff purchased a Zamboni.
He was a proud St. Marks cub and scout and marched many times in the civic parade prior to the Midland Fair opening.
In Tim’s teenage years he found music. When the Beatles arrived in New York City in 1964, Tim was hooked. (Hence, the long hair issues at MSS). He picked up a guitar and taught himself to play. He played many gigs around town with his first band, The Interrogative Case, and placed second in a band competition at MSS. Many, many days were spent with his band mates: Peter and Paul Tretina, Jim Mitchell, Jim Devonshire, Bob Devonshire and a couple of years later his good friend Mike Hanna, in the basement of 100 Donalda St. in Midland.
Tim’s family would like to thank the Ontario Healthcare team of professionals for the care and compassion they showed him.
Also, a very special thank you to Sandy Parks, NP who showed compassion, empathy and care beyond the norm.
Thank you to Test Batches Brewery for their generous donation to the Cancer Society in memory of Tim.
Lastly, the care Tim received at Huronia Hospice in Penetang was exceptional. Thank you to Karla Trewin and her team of volunteers and employees for their compassion and empathy shown to Tim, Anitra, Sean and the rest of Tim's immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, Tim’s family would ask that you put on a favourite Beatles song, turn up the volume on your system, grab your partner (if applicable) and dance around your kitchen.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Test Batches,in Midland on Sunday, August 24. Come say hello anytime from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
