Remembering Jane Copeland

Jane Copeland, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend suddenly passed away Sunday August 3rd, 2025 in Barrie Ontario. She grew up in Streetsville but spent most of her life in Toronto, most of which was in the Beaches neighbourhood. She cherished her life spent there and considered that her home. You could always find her walking on the beach with the dogs, Steve and Edie, or gathered with the neighbours for dinner or a nightcap. Second to the beaches, Geneva Park was another place she called home, she had taken her children there throughout their childhood and created lifelong memories. She had a long and wonderful marriage with her husband, Greg, for 34 years and created a beautiful life together. She was a very involved and devoted mother and wife, very active with her community and activities for the kids. She always kept herself busy with countless yoga classes, playing baseball her whole life, to meeting friends for long dog walks. If she wasn’t out and about, you could count on her to either be on a beach or by the pool with a book, with her girlfriends sharing a bottle or two of wine, watching the blue jays play, or cooking a delicious meal for the family. Jane worked in television production for 40 years and loved her time spent in the industry. She retired in 2020 after her and her husband relocated to Orillia. Her granddaughter Morgan was welcomed into the world almost a year ago and she became the light of her life, she was made to be a grandmother. Everyone would often describe her as the best person they’ve ever met. Her fun and kind personality would fill a room. Jane could find a friend in anyone and make everyone feel so welcomed. She was gracefully clumsy which was one of the many things we loved about her. Jane was the strongest person, she fought long and hard and never gave up because that’s who she was. We were all so lucky to have her in our lives. She was loved so immensely.

She is survived by her husband Greg, her daughter Cate, her son Jamie, daughter in law Emilie, Granddaughter Morgan, her sister Cathy Spina and her niece and nephew Miriam and Philip Spina. And so many friends and family, that would be too many to list that loved her dearly. She will be deeply missed every day. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society on Jane’s behalf. The date and time for the celebration of life will be shared once determined. Arrangements entrusted to Carson Funeral Homes – L. Doolittle Chapel in Orillia (705)326-3595.

  1. Emma

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. From the very first time I met Jane, she welcomed me into her heart and your family. I have never felt more embraced by a family that wasn’t my own. Her kindness was effortless, her warmth genuine, and her love for those around her unwavering. I will never forget one night at Geneva Park, her favourite place on earth. She started dancing simply because she was so happy to be there. Before long, we were all dancing and laughing with her, caught up in the joy she radiated. That night was pure magic, and it’s just one of the many memories I will hold close. I feel so grateful to have known Jane and to have experienced the places and moments she loved so much. Her light will be deeply missed, but her warmth and laughter will stay with me forever. Our time together was far too short, but I will always be grateful for the memories, the laughter, and the way you made the world feel brighter just by being in it.

Greg - I was sad to hear of Jane’s passing. I remember her always present smile and bad jokes (usually at your expense). She was simply a joy to be around. I am so sorry for your loss, my deepest condolences.

I am deeply saddened to hear that Jane has passed away. Jane & I worked together at Technicolor until I retired and Jane moved up north. I have such fond memories of her. Her positive energy, warm heart. She always brought in her delicious baked goods at Christmas and was very generous sharing her recipes. Her love of animals and people did not go unnoticed. Another bright light has left the planet, I will keep hr close in my heart and wish healing for all her loved ones

  6. Lori McCubbin

My deepest condolences to Greg, Catie and Jamie. Jane meant so much to me. We first bonded at Balmy Beach School, where I had the privilege of teaching both Jamie and Catie. She was the very best mother. She ran the fall fair talent show for years…the best years of the talent show for sure!! Jane and I had many lively chats on our dog walks. She was so easy to talk to, so understanding and empathetic. Our dogs were best friends. We both loved the Beach community so much. I will miss Jane so very much. I will always cherish our friendship.
