Remembering Velma Carol Clarke 'Carol'

CLARKE, Velma Carol (Carol) nee Hatherly

Passed peacefully after a courageous battle with MS on Tuesday June 24 2025.

Carol Clarke, much beloved wife of Fred Clarke of Orillia. Dear and cherished mother of Chad and his wife Sarah. Survived by sister Karen Mendel (Jim) of Amherstburg, predeceased by siblings Larry Hatherly (Linda), Wayne Hatherly (Jo-ann) and Shirley Gilbert (Keith).

When she wasn't looking for all-you-can-eat shrimp, Carol loved to pass the time playing games with loved ones like yahtzee and scrabble. She also enjoyed tanning while soaking up the sunshine and having a good chat over a cup of tea.

A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the funeral home on Monday June 30th starting at 11 am. Interment to follow at St. Andrews-St. James Cemetery in Orillia. Reception to take place at Carson Funeral Home after the interment.

If desired donations to the MS Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.

My Dear Friend Fred, Please know that Mom, Gisele and I are mourning with you. The Lord must have needed a very special Angel in heaven with him cause that’s why he chose Carol. From now on she’ll always be with you, so talk to her, whenever you need to cause she’ll hear you and will help you through anything you need. You are a very rare human being and I treasure our friendship very much. Take Care of yourself and lean on your family and friends. If you should ever come out this please come to see us as the door is always open and the balcony is easy to climb! Let’s keep in touch 🥰 Much love and big hugs 🤗❤️🙏 God bless you Fred

My Auntie Carol was the sweetest. She always spoke with us with such kindness and love. She was generous beyond measure. She even celebrated our (the 1974 crew) 13th birthday at her wedding. She loved with all her heart and to be with her was always a joy. When my Mom, her sister lost her battle with MS 18 years ago it became difficult to separate the two of them for me. They looked alike, had the same warm spirit and had the same health struggles. They were both the most kind and loving women. I am sure they are together now and having a big catch up. I regret not visiting Aunt Carol more often but am glad I did see her in the last year and I am so grateful that I did. So much love and support to Uncle Fred, Chad and Sarah. I wish you all so much peace. Love you both.
