We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Marci on June 15th, 2025, catmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend.

Marci is predeceased by her parents, Edward and Patricia (nee: Barton) Umbriaco, her uncle Ernie Umbrico, Aunt Helen and Uncle Ed Barilla as well as her grandparents – Camillo and Angela Umbriaco and Ernest and Marion Barton. Marci will be desperately missed by her kitty, Cece who she adored.  Her best friend and ex-partner, John Averell is feeling this tremendous loss.  She will be greatly missed by her loving sister Natalie Piergentili, brother-in-law Joe, niece Elena, and nephew Sonny Piergentili, brother Patrick Umbriaco, sister-in-law Gabby Umbriaco, niece Tanya Umbriaco as well as her cousins Rachel Umbrico, Ursula Braun, Janice Barilla, Sandi Sajac and Anthony Umbrico with their families.  Marci is the cherished niece of Sue and Al Wood and Jeannette Umbrico.

A graduate of Merritton High School, Marci has many lifelong friends that she shared many great times with – Kristi Grant, Sue Tavano Thiessen, Sandy Matiesh, Amanda Garbowicz, Linda Graham and Sandy Ihssen.  This group had so many great times at Gord’s, Grape and Wine Festival and various concerts - Depeche Mode, Eden Fest.  Growing up in Merritton, Marci was an avid Baseball player for many years.

With her passion for art and her immense creativity, Marci graduated from the Visual Arts program at Niagara College and worked for over 20 years as an esthetician in salons in St. Catharines, Hamilton and Burlington.  Many of Marci’s friends and family were her most loyal clients.  She had a keen eye for creative nail art, fine detail and perfection in every brush stroke for the perfectly manicured nails.  The drawings, paintings and many clever, handmade items created by Marci are valued by all who received them. 

Marci was a generous spirit, known for her love of animals, vibrant creativity, commitment to recycling and unwavering loyalty to those she loved.  Marci had a laugh that can never be forgotten.  Her family loved to listen to her watch many of favourite shows like South Park or Ren and Stimpy, just to hear her laugh.  Marci, was a great big sister, spending hours helping her sister with makeup, clothes and passing on her fabulous taste in music.  Her niece and nephew have fond memories spending time with Auntie Marci, making crafts and watching movies at her house.

Cremation has taken place and internment will be held at a later date.  In memory of Marci, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Niagara, Burlington Animal Shelter, Pets Alive Niagara, Happy Days Animal Sanctuary, Hank’s Haven Rescue Foundation or any animal charity of your choice.
