Remembering Connie Pitines-Thayer

Pitines-Thayer, Connie

Passed away peacefully with her family and friends by her side at The Villa Care Centre in Midland on Monday, June 2, 2025 at the age of 69. Predeceased by husband Leopoldo Pitines. Beloved daughter of Isabel and the late Felicisimo Talaguit. Loving and devoted mother of Paulyn Pitines-Gamad (Oya), Marycar Pridham and Michael Pitines (Maan). Dear partner of Shirley Robles.

Will be forever loved and missed by her grandchildren Gabe, Ellisa, Peter, Vincent, Chloe, April and Annika. Survived by siblings Guillermo Talaguit (Remy), Maximo Talaguit (Emma), Lucila Reyes (Ranny), Felicisimo Talaguit Jr., (Eurica) and Imelda Rosal (Arnold) and the late Juliet Adonis (Tony) and Renato Talaguit.

Connie was blessed to have a large extended family and lots of long time friends spanning from the Philippines, USA, and Canada (Ontario/Edmonton/Calgary).

Connie was truly an independent, resilient, determined, and compassionate person with a strong sense of responsibility and drive to do better in life. She moved to Canada from the Philippines in the late 80s on her own, started as a nanny and worked her way into being a healthcare aid (Personal Support worker) in long-term care and private settings. She worked as a PSW for 35 years; the majority of those years were at Georgian Manor. Her outgoing, caring, and compassionate nature to the residents and their families could be seen everyday of her long career and she will be greatly missed by all.

She raised her three children on her own as a single mom and ensured they were prepared to face all that life had to offer. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of family and to be there for each other with love, generosity, and harmony.

She was a very diligent and ambitious woman with an amazing zest for life. These attributes allowed her to touch many lives. She could make a friend out of a complete stranger and strived to help people whichever way she could. She is a long and strong member of the Filipino community and been involved in many Filipino-Canadian Associations in the North Simcoe area.

Connie was a religious woman and relied on God's grace and mercy to help her through life whether it be through good times or bad. She find strength from her faith and lived to serve God through helping others with care and compassion.

The family will receive guests for visitation on Friday, June 6th 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carson Funeral Home, 209 First St. in Midland (705) 526-6551. A celebration of her life and service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home the following day, Saturday, June 7, starting at 1 p.m. Visitation from 11 a.m. A reception luncheon will follow onsite.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation and are greatly appreciated.

To Connie's Family Sorry to hear of Connie's passing. I was the Director of Nursing that hired her at Georgian Manor along with Cora. I was impressed with her gentleness and kindness during her interview and she continued to demonstrate that and more in the care she gave our Residents. Her quiet way was soothing and calming to all. Rarely did you find her without a smile. She was proud of her family and often spoke of daughter Marycar who worked in the west as a R.N. Her warm pleasant personality made Georgian Manor a home. God bless and comfort her family in their sadness.
