Remembering Kenneth George Berry 'Ken'

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Ken Berry, who passed away at Spencer house in Orillia on Friday, May 16th, at the age of 81, after a long and difficult health battle. Ken is survived by his daughter Allison and son Jeff as well their mother, his first wife, Carolyn, his sister Lorna, brother in law Des and nephews Dave and Greg. Ken is predeceased by his mother Nancy, father George and second wife Cindy. Ken was born on October 9, 1943 in Montreal Quebec.

He moved his family to Ontario in 1975 for professional reasons and spent the remainder of his life here living in various cities including Mississauga and Georgetown before retiring in Orillia. He worked as a customs broker as his main career and chose to work in the golfing industry once he moved to Orillia. Golf was his passion and a sport he excelled at for most of his life along with downhill skiing. He also loved his corvettes and driving around in the sun with the top down listening to Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin.

He will likely be remembered as a friendly, easy going and humorous man who loved meeting new people and conversing with everyone. He was a well-known fixture in his retirement community before moving to the nursing home and people would always comment on his laughter with his daughter being overheard throughout the neighbourhood.

A special thank you to Spencer House for their short but unforgettably generous care of Ken. He spent the last 6 weeks of his life surrounded by people there who made him feel so special and loved.

A private family memorial will be held for Ken.

Arrangements entrusted to Carson Funeral Homes L. Doolittle Chapel, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705) 326-3595.
