Remembering Donald “Don” Edward French

Donald “Don” Edward French was born in Newmarket, Ontario. He passed on June 2nd, 2024 at 76 years of age.
Don married Ann in 1985 and together they raised a blended family. He worked with La Rue Haulage for 45 years in a management position and then retired at 61 years of age. Don then worked approximately five more years as a heavy equipment operator for Chapman Farms. And then he retired for a second time while living in Lagoon City, Brechin.

Don is survived by his loving wife Ann and his children Lisa (Victor), Karen (Sue), Connie (Steve), Hilary (Geoff) and Nathan (Maggie).
He had a special place in his heart for each of his grandchildren: Scott, Brenden, Madison, Gaby, Juan Diego, Georgia and Dawson, the one who made him GeePa (great-grandchild).
Don was a kind, loving, hardworking man and was always dedicated to supporting his family and extended family. He was a real jack-of-all trades and took pride in creating the best for those he loved.

In his free time, Don kept busy. He built furniture, worked on numerous renovations and restored his 1966 Pontiac convertible, which he lovingly called “Baby.”  Don enjoyed multiple travel adventures with his grandchildren. And he was always up for helping family and friends with countless moves.

Our Don was fiercely loyal and supportive. Don will be so very missed.
The family will receive friends at L. Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 o'clock. Reception to follow. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Diabetes Foundation

I am so sorry for your loss, Ann and family. Don was such a kind man and so supportive when we worked on the condominium board together. Ann, Don and I became good friends and we will all miss Don.

  3. Joe Thomas

I want to thank Don for being a great stepdad to my three daughters and Pa to my grandchildren and great grandson. One who made the choice to love another's child as their own. One who selflessly steps up to provide, protect, encourage, and love. One who became a role model, teacher, & friend because he wanted to. I could not have asked for a better person to help guide them in life. And for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You will be in my memories for the rest of my life.  Rest in Pease.                                                     Joe Thomas
