Remembering Erin Louise Amos

Passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 18. Erin was the much loved only daughter of Paul and Mary Louise Amos. She was the beloved mother and protector of her twin boys Malone and Maclain Amos, her pride and joy.
She graduated from Park Street Collegiate Institute and went on to attend Kemptville and George Brown College. Her passion from childhood was horses and she turned this love into a business and career, founding Top of the Hill Farm in Oro-Medonte. She first operated her business out of a tent stable until the arena was opened in 1998. Erin was a successful rider, coach and line handler. She and her students competed successfully locally, provincially and internationally (Culpepper, Virginia and Ocala, Florida). Her dream was to win the coveted General Governor’s/Lieutenant Governor’s Cup at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, and she ribboned in the top 10. She successfully coached hundreds of students of all ages to numerous ribbons, Championships and Reserve Champions. Erin had two other passions – Jack Russell Terriers and cooking. Erin always had a pack of Russells at her heels - and no clinic at Top of the Hill was complete without Erin’s special casseroles and her chicken stew. Erin excelled at coaching people and training horses. Her spirit and personality were infectious; people always knew they would have fun whenever she was around. She had a tremendous positive influence on so many lives. The sound of the truck and trailer coming up the hill from a horse show with the radio blasting and the girls and Erin singing at the top of their lungs was a sign that everyone was home safe and sound. Erin, you are safe now. In lieu of flowers, donations to an education fund for her cherished boys would be appreciated.  A visitation will be held at Carson Funeral Home – L. Doolittle Chapel, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705) 326-3595 on Friday February 23, 2024 from 1-4 P.M.

I have just learned of Erin's passing and am heartbroken for her family; especially her boys. I went to Kemptville College for Equine Studies with Erin where we had many fun times. To say horses were her passion, would be an understatement. Rest easy Erin.
