Remembering Margaret Joyce Hobson

Marna passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 23, 2023. She was 91 years “young”.

Following her marriage to George B. Hobson in 1954, she took a break from her nursing career to raise four children. After which, she went back to school to specialize in Geriatric nursing. She then went on to teach nursing and after retiring, volunteered for hospice.

Marna made lifelong friends in all the communities where she and George lived. She actively participated in many social organizations, including the Red Hat Society and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She especially enjoyed her time spent with family at their cottage on the French River.

Marna is survived by George Hobson, her loving husband for 70 years. She will be missed by her children and their spouses; Grant and Jane Hobson, Garry and Lee Ann Hobson, Greg and Barb Hobson and Shelly and Mark Hitchcox as well as her brother Don Seller and his wife Maureen. She was predeceased by her brother Doug Seller and his wife Marlene.

Marna was “Nana” to nine grandchildren (Jennifer, Sarah, David, Erin, Jamie, Anne, Dexter, Thomas and Scott) and “Great Nana” to six great-grandchildren (Dylan, William, Eliot, Owen, Lucy and Hugh). She was a beloved Aunt and friend to many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Her family would like to convey their gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the staff and volunteers at Sundial Retirement Residence and Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, both in Orillia. They would also like to express their special appreciation to her long time physician, Dr. Karen Kennedy.

A private family service is to follow at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home 54 Coldwater Street E., Orillia, Ontario 705-326-3595.
