Remembering Willa Esther Mercer (nee Davies)

With heavy hearts, the family of Willa Mercer announce her passing on Monday, September 4th, 2023 at the age of 87. Willa passed peacefully after a long and unforgiving 6 year battle with dementia. She is remembered fondly by her children, Marlisa (JoAnn), Chris (Shelley), Kent (Costa), by dear cousin, Pamela (Clayton-predeceased) and by her many nieces and nephews. Mom is predeceased by her loving husband Harold (2007), her sister Dorothy (2021) and her parents Jack and Dorothy Davies. She was a long time member of St. James’ Church and volunteered in various capacities over the years. Mom was a creative soul at heart and had a curiosity in just about everything she saw. She enjoyed many years of rug hooking, quilting, button collecting, knitting, painting, crocheting and creating teddy bears and other assorted stuffed animals. Possessing a good sense of humour and a ready laugh, she was also able to laugh at herself and always enjoyed the company of her family and friends. The family wishes to thank the earth angels on Home Area 5 (you know who you are) for their patient, kind and attentive care of our beloved mother. If so inclined, in lieu of a memorial donation, please visit with someone whom would benefit from some time and kindness. Whether you raise a glass to toast Willa’s memory or bow your head in a silent prayer for her, please take a moment to remember something nice about this gentle, caring and talented woman who is already missed. Her immediate family will be observing a private service.  Arrangements entrusted to the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home 54 Coldwater Street E., Orillia, Ontario 705-326-3595.
