Remembering Roy Vernon Telford

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Roy Telford at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Orillia on Monday April 3, 2023 in his 75th year.  Beloved husband and best friend of Brenda Readman.  Loving father of Dallyn (Lorna) and Darren (Julie).  Cherished grampie of Ethan, Carlee, and Brooke.  Proud son of Norman and Ruth (Predeceased), and brother to Ray (Predeceased), Marg, Kay, Ralph, and Joan.  Roy will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews.  Roy was a hard working man of tremendous character and proud of his 30yr career as an OPP Officer.  He made countless friends through the detachment’s in Minden, Wawa, Grand Bend, Orillia, and as the “Sherriff” of Coldwater.  Never shy to start a conversation, Roy could turn a stranger into a friend within minutes.  Nothing brought more joy to Roy than his time spent with family.  He could often be found at the arena or ball diamond proudly watching his sons and grandkids.  After retiring from the OPP he worked 10 years for Ron Burton & Sons.  Then he was promoted to “Head Mechanic” at Telford Property Management where he kept busy fixing everything his Boys Broke.  More recently, he thoroughly enjoyed his time as a volunteer at OSMH.  A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Italiano, Dr. Bailey, Dr. Cooper, Dr. Anand, Dr. Alexander, nurse “Tara” and many other nurses and healthcare providers.  Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will be held at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home 54 Coldwater Street E., Orillia, Ontario 705-326-3595 on Saturday April 29, 2023  from 1 – 4 p.m. Words of remembrance will take place at 2 pm.  If desired, memorial donations may be made to Orillia Minor Hockey, Orillia Terriers JR. C Hockey Club, or the Orillia Hawks Girls Hockey Association.  Please be prepared with a cheque for donations.
