Remembering John Roger Fisher

Entered into rest peacefully at the Villa Care Centre on March 12, 2023 in his 88th year surrounded by his boys.  Predeceased by his wife and best friend, Shirley. Survived by his sister Marilyn and predeceased by his sister Betty.

Father to Brent (Marilyn), Graham (Wendy), James (Lesley).  Grandfather to Samantha (Matthew), Bradley (Samantha), Kailey, Brennen, and Great Grandfather to Adeline.  Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews on both the Fisher and Van Exan side of the family.

John will be remembered as a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was always worth the listen.  He had a quick wit and enjoyed watching the world go by, reading his beloved newspaper.  He was Director of Finance at Binney and Smith until his retirement, a role he thoroughly enjoyed and that brought he and the family to Lindsay.  In Lindsay, he was active in the community enjoying the Academy Theatre and curling at the local curling club.  In his later years, John developed Alzheimer’s forcing him to give up many of the activities that he truly enjoyed.

The last few years of his life John required additional care and moved to the Tiffin House in Midland, and then ultimately to the Villa Care Centre in Midland.  The family wishes to thank the staff at the Villa Care Centre for the tremendous care and support during this difficult time.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life scheduled in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, the Arthritis Society of Canada or to a charity of your choice and will be received by Carson Funeral Homes – JH Lynn Chapel 290 First St. Midland, Ontario L4R 3N9 (705)526-6551.
