Remembering Richard Paul Frank Gadziola 'Rick'

On Thursday, December 29th, 2022, Richard “Rick” Gadziola, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 70. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Stella, and his sister, Pati. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Susan, his children Paul (Jana) and Marie (Andrew), his stepdaughter Jacqueline (Sam), and his grandsons, Jackson and Declan. Rick was a man of many talents and achievements, finding early success in the advertising industry and later owning his own printing business for over 15 years. He was a skilled poker player and dabbled as a private investigator, providing inspiration for his three published mystery novels. More recently, he found success as a screenwriter, a passion that helped keep him going through several serious illnesses and many years of dialysis. When he wasn’t writing, Rick enjoyed doing magic tricks for his family, dining out with Susan, and lovingly complaining about the Leafs. Those who knew him well will remember Rick’s quick wit, his charm, and his love of sharing stories about his exploits and travels over a game of cards or a meal. Rick always made sure everyone close to him was well looked after, including his beloved dogs over the years, and the many furry backyard visitors who would stop by for their daily peanuts. At Rick’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, he’d rather you think of him the next time you enjoy a really great meal, play cards, or watch the Leafs. If you would like to make a donation in his memory, the family asks that you consider giving to the Hemodialysis Unit at Orillia Soldier’s Memorial Hospital (https://osmhfoundation.ca/donate/). Their wonderful team took incredible care of Rick and we are grateful for the extra years they gave us with him. Arrangements entrusted to the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home 54 Coldwater Street E., Orillia, Ontario 705-326-3595.
