Remembering James William Peter Pauk

It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of well known local professional photographer James William Peter Pauk at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Orillia on July 6, 2022 in his 87th year.  James will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 65 years Grace (nee Jermey).  James will be cherished by his sons Gregory (Elizabeth) and Randy of Orillia, also will be sorely missed by his two grandchildren Jonathan (Natasha)  and Logan. James will additionally be remembered by his nephew Philip Favero and niece Betty Mosher both of Barrie.  James is predeceased by his parents John and Maria and by his sister Jane. He was born in Rotterdam Holland on May 25, 1936 and came to Canada after the war with his family in 1951 to settle in Thornton, Ontario.  After living in Barrie he married the love of his life Grace in 1957 and eventually moved to Orillia.  He quickly became interested in photo journalism and by 1965 became city editor for the Orillia Packet & Times.  James also freelanced for the Toronto Star, Star Weekly and the Globe & Mail.  Photography was his real passion and after graduating from the New York Institute of Photography he started his own photography Studio, James Pauk Photography, in 1969.  During his 53 year career he had the opportunity to record history for many families and distinguished people.  The family would like to recognize Dr. Jeffrey Grieves, the late Dr. James Tazzeo,Bayshore Home Health, and the many doctors and nurses as well as ICU staff for their services and compassion during this difficult time.  The family will receive friends at Carson Funeral Homes – L. Doolittle Chapel, 54 Coldwater St. E Orillia (705) 326-3595 on Monday July 11, 2022 from 2 – 5 p.m.    Private family interment at St. Andrews St. James Cemetery.  If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital Foundation and would be appreciated by the family.
