Remembering Maurice Brian Turner

Maurice Turner
March 26, 1949 - April 18, 2022

After a stoic three-year battle with pancreatic cancer through a global pandemic, Maurice (Moe) Brian Turner passed away the morning of Monday, April 18, 2022. His wife Marilyn Turner (nee Parr) was by his side.

Moe leaves behind a legacy that will honour him every day. He and Marilyn were married for 48 years, and proudly raised two children, Lindsay and Scott. He welcomed his daughter-in-law, Elissa, to the family with open arms. All of us adored our dad. His grandchildren, Abigail and Isobel, lit up whenever they saw Papa – and Papa lit up when he saw them too.

Moe was the treasured brother of Karen Turner and Ena Buckingham (predeceased), and brother-in-law of Heather, John and Gord. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, Katie (Greg), Joel, Paul (Robin), Maddie, Austin, Ethan and James. He is predeceased by his parents Clayton and Aurelia Turner.

Moe was the quiet, steady patriarch of our tight-knit family. At our chaotic family dinners, we will miss his calm observation, quick wit and dad jokes, and knowledge of all things sports, politics and random trivia. We will also miss his stories, which after some wine, included every single detail and at least three digressions to make his point.

Friends will be received at Knox Presbyterian Church Midland, Ontario on Saturday April 30, 2022 from 10am until 12pm, memorial service to follow. A reception will take place after the service at Carson Funeral Homes- JH Lynn Chapel 290 First Street, Midland, Ontario (705)526-6551 reception hall, which is located next to the church. The family strongly encourages guests to wear a mask to help keep everyone safe.

If you wish to make a donation in memory of Moe, please consider a contribution to any cancer organization, or to Hospice Huronia – Tomkins House, where Moe received phenomenal care in his last few days.

Although our hearts are broken, we find peace knowing he’s at rest after a brave battle where he never once complained. We are so proud of how hard he fought and how he quietly knew when he needed to stop fighting.

Moe, give Jesus a big hug for us (see? Marilyn told you so). We love you and will miss you so much.
