Remembering Johnna Lee Dalrymple

After a courageous five-month battle with cancer, Johnna Lee Dalrymple (née Thompson) passed away in her 75th year, surrounded by her loving family. She was the dear and devoted wife of Brian for 48 years, and loving mother of Stephen (Kaitlyn Riordan) and David (Laura Moriarity). Johnna was the beloved sister of Mary Lou (predeceased) (Bob) Dickson; David (Suzanne) Thompson; and the sister-in-law of Jean Dalrymple; and Rob (Judy) Dalrymple. Johnna will be sadly missed by her nieces Megan (Tony Di Sylvestro) Dickson and son Charlie; Briar (Jonathan) Cipryk and sons Lincoln and Marshall; Jocelyn (Matt) St. Denis and sons Cooper and Sawyer; and nephews Kieran Dickson, and Nick and Zack Dalrymple. Johnna has a wide circle of dear friends from her school days in Brampton, a lifetime career in Corrections, and the community around Orillia and Coldwater.

Johnna spent her life and career working in Ontario Corrections, assisting others in finding balance in their lives. She was warmhearted and generous, and adept at solving problems and resolving disputes with calm and compassion. She was courageous, particularly in the aid and defense of those less fortunate members of society.

Friends and family will recall her creative and artistic side - her “friends” pins, dragonflies, sock monkeys and her contributions to the Women’s Show, her sensitive drawings and paintings, as well as her enthusiasm for the Writer’s Group and Prose and Cons.

Johnna was deeply spiritual, believing in the ‘Divine’, manifested in her love of forest walks and all things growing: tall trees, ponds, flowers, and mushrooms, to name a few.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cremation has taken place. There will no funeral or visitation. A celebration of life will be held when Covid permits.

If desired, memorial donations to the Orillia Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements entrusted to the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595.
