Remembering John Kemp Campbell

On October 18, 2021, following a brief illness and surrounded by his three "favourite girls", "Kemp" slipped quietly from this world. He was born in Kilworthy, ON on October 11, 1933 to parents Ross and Muriel Campbell (nee Young) and was older brother to Archie (pre-deceased) (Diane, pre-deceased), Reggie and Penny (pre-deceased) (Tom) and stepson to Reg LeMay and Jessie Campbell (both pre-deceased). After meeting in 1953 and marrying the love of his life, Joyce (nee Kuhl, pre-deceased), they raised Gerry, Mary Ellen, Paul (pre-deceased), Gord and Colin. They also shared their love with the "outlaws" as spouses Diane, Jack and Lori are affectionately known. Dad was grampa to Jared, Kyle, Alison, Adam, Kemp, Scott (pre-deceased), Jordan, Stephanie and Amanda and great grampa to 11. Our dad drove cement truck for two local companies for the majority of his career. He was passionate about music and was an accomplished fiddler and bagpipe player, playing with the Huntsville, Bracebridge and Orillia pipe bands. He was an avid reader, especially enjoying history and the World Wars and had an amazing memory for detail. He was adamant about gun safety and was a regular with mom at the gun club north of Orillia. He had a wicked sense of humour, telling side-splitting jokes and pulling off pranks in his younger days. Our family wishes to extend thanks to all staff of Spencer House for their love and care of dad over the past almost 3 years. A private service, by invitation only, will be held at Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705) 326-3595, following cremation. Should you wish, donations can be made to The Salvation Army Orillia or to the SPCA. "Love the people God gave you, because one day He will call them back."
