It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Rudi Steinacker at GBG Hospital with Family by his side, on Monday, September 13, 2021 at the age of 72.
Beloved partner of Vickie Lamb.
Cherished Dad and Step-Dad to Paula (Jean), Shelley (Chris), Holly, Sarah (Andy),
Jamieson and Kendall.
Dear Opa to Curtis, Evin, Naomi, Kinzie and Niya.
Only Son of the late Inge and Hans Steinacker.
Rudi will be sadly missed by his extended family of sister in laws, brother in laws, nieces and nephews, as well as his cousin in law, Monica Conte and Tante Liesel in Germany.
Rudi was a Tool & Die maker by profession and quite the “jack of all trades”. He’d be deep in thought in front of a current project, walk away, and come back with some makeshift gadget and continue on. He was always very creative in finding solutions to a problem.
He enjoyed taking on various woodworking projects too, many of them alongside his brother in law Jim. They would often call each other “my brother from another mother.”
Rudi was also a long-standing figure in the War of 1812 reenactment community, known by most as “blue jacket”, whereby he enjoyed many years of participation in all the various events throughout the seasons.
If desired, memorial donations to the Midland Soup Kitchen or Homeless Shelters would be appreciated by the families.
Cremation has taken place. At Rudi’s request there will be no service.
