Remembering Brian Gordon Cowieson

Passed away peacefully, in his 79th year at Georgian Bay General Hospital, Midland, Ontario, on Sunday, August 29, 2021.  Predeceased by his loving wife Linda (Lynn) Cowieson (Gamble), father Gordon Aubrey Cowieson and mother Mildred (Mid) Flossie (Cook) Cowieson. Brother of Robert (Bob) Cowieson, father of Jennifer Oliver (husband Richard Oliver), Colleen Sheriff (husband Matt Sheriff) and Bryson Cowieson.  Grandfather of Venessa, Madelyn, Jake, Ashley and Chloe. Close companion of Brenda Simec.

Brian loved to work on antique wood boats and would share his knowledge and expertise with anyone wanting to learn. The family spent many summers at Six Mile Lake and the children benefited from Brian’s love for building racing boats.  Each of his children spent many hours building these boats with their father and driving them all summer.  The gas bill at Wauwatosa Marina did get out of hand for a few summers.

Brian tried his hand at many different careers and hobbies, including working for the Toronto Metro Police, Toronto Taxi Driver, raising chinchillas for the fur industry, selling pharmaceuticals, and eventually taking over and running the family business, Cowieson Meats off Yonge Street, Toronto. After closing the Cowieson Meats store, Brian turned to his first love of boat building.

We will miss Brian, very much and find comfort that he will be reunited with Lynn.

Family and friends may join the Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 11 am - 2 pm at the L. Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home 54 Coldwater St E, Orillia On (705)326-3595.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
