Remembering Robert Charles McLaren 'Bob'

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (aka Bob) Charles McLaren on July 16th, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family when his 9th life passed in the early hours of the morning. His life began on June 12th, 1941, in Kirkland Lake as the youngest of seven children. At the age of 11 they re-located to ‘The Farm’ in Rutherglen Ontario, a perfect place for a mischievous and clever boy to grow up. His infectious wit, fun personality and respectability for others will be greatly missed by his family and numerous colleagues throughout his career. Bob started his career as a compositor at the North Bay Nugget and then for Beatty Printing. His unique mix of artistic and mechanical thinking led him to a career change. In 1971 Bob joined Bell Canada, which relocated him and his new family to Sudbury, Ontario. Bob lived his life as a true ‘Northern Ontarian’, passionate about hunting, fishing, and camping. But never limited his experiences to just Ontario, his zest for life took him and his wife, Sally, travelling around the world in their later years. He will be sadly missed and always remain, best dad to Tracy and Craig, coolest grandpa to Hannah, Jake, Logan and Madeleine, favorite brother to Barb, and quick-witted uncle to his numerous nieces and nephews. (Especially his favorite niece) The family would like to thank Home & Community Care, Bayshore Nursing (Cindy), Helping Hands, ProResp and Nurse Practitioner Malcolm for all their support and help to keep Bob at home. If desired, memorial donations to the Dialysis Centre at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
