Remembering John Gardner Higham

On the evening of September 19th, 2020 John Garner HIGHAM, (89), of Orillia, Ontario (formerly of London, Ontario), son of Doris and William, passed away peacefully with his daughter at his side, accompanied by the soothing sounds of a Welsh Choir. John's wry wit, tenacity, and kind heart will be sorely missed.

John was born in Preston, Lancs, England and served in Korea with the King’s Own Royal Regiment.  John and his family emigrated to Canada in 1966.  The family moved to London, Ontario soon after.  John worked for Ford Motor Company in Talbotville, Ontario for many years, right up to his retirement.

John is survived by his wife, Kathleen, his children, Peter, Kenneth, Susan and Pamela, his grand-daughter Amanda and his great grandson Greyson.

John was lovingly cared for at Spencer House in Orillia. A heartfelt thank you to nursing staff Vanessa and Julia for their care and compassion while looking after John for the last 6 months.

To Dr. Aaron Barnett and the staff of Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, IMRS-2 – you gave John a new lease on life through your support and rehabilitation.  And, in his final hours, Kim and Christine helped comfort John on his final journey.  Your kindness will never be forgotten.

In the absence of a formal service, please celebrate John's life in the manner you feel is most reflective of him.

In lieu of flowers, and in honour of John's son Peter, charitable donations can be made to Parkinson Canada and will be received by the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595.

Good bye Dad!  We’ll miss you!
