Remembering John Ralph Carter 'Ralph'

Passed peacefully at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Orillia on Monday July 20, 2020 in his 70th year.  Ralph is survived by his mother Lois Carter and predeceased by his father William Carter, was a loving companion to Lynne Westerby, and will be sadly missed by his children Elizabeth Carter and Elliott Carter (Kennedy Brown)  and their mother Diane Barr. Ralph will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Gregory (Cheryl) Carter, Robert Carter, Janice Carter, Brenda (Bill) Mabbett, and Brian Carter, and by his nieces and nephews Michelle (Geoff), Ryan, Kelsey (Chris), Kara (Marty), and Jason (Sheri), and great nieces Caleigh, Alise, and Harper.  Ralph grew up in Udney and attended O.D.C.V.I. and Georgian College.  He worked at Webers during the summers in his youth, and then to the Huronia Regional Centre as a counsellor for 15+ years. Ralph spent over 30 years with the Orillia Fire Department retiring as a Captain.  He enjoyed the outdoors and water activities.  He was kind, gentle, and had an amazing sense of humour.  A special thank you to Dr. Tillmann, the PSWs, and the nurses who helped make Ralph comfortable at Birchmere throughout his battle with MSA.  Soldiers Memorial Hospital was always compassionate whenever Ralph needed their help.  Cremation has taken place.  The family will receive friends for visitation at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595 on Monday July 27, 2020 from 4 – 6 p.m.  Please enter the facility through the front door off of Coldwater St. E.  An invite only service (Due to COVID -19 restrictions) will take place on Tuesday July 28, 2020 at 1 o’clock.  The service will be live streamed (go to youtube.com and search Carson Funeral Home channel, or https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCza-aDQdWYyBaglt6zcibfw , call with technical questions.  Following the service at 2 pm, the family will be receiving guests as a drive pass if you were uncomfortable with the visitation setting.  Please enter the line from Neywash St. to exit through the parking lot onto Coldwater Rd.   If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Multiple System Atrophy Coalition https://www.multiplesystematrophy.org/msa-donation/, and would be appreciated by the family.
