Remembering Joan Dianalynne Smart

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Diana Lynne Smart at the age of 69 years.

Joanie had many hard fought illnesses and left us for a beautiful place on Thursday, June 18, 2020.

She never stopped fighting.  She was strong, determined and lived the way she wanted to.

 Joanie enjoyed playing bingo, card games, cooking and baking.  She loved to play cards with family and friends; no one would ever try to cheat as she would catch them!

Joanie is survived by her caregiver and best friend, Rick Brodeur, his daughter Jennifer (Sean) and children; Steff, Steven and Kyle.

Sadly missed and dearly loved by daughters Tracy (Paul) and Connie (Steve). And by her grandsons Dustin (Amanda) and Jeffery.  Also, she truly will be missed by the apples of her eye, her three great-granddaughters’, Lyla, Ella and Maddy.

The Smart and Deshane families are exceptionally close, especially Joanie’s siblings and spouses; Beverly (Joe), Bonnie (Wayne), Gerry (Bob), Janice (Jim), Cindy (Jim; Joanie’s second husband haha!), Kathy, Colleen (Gary), Maureen (Tony) and Danny. 

Joanie will also be missed by her numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as her many cousins from near and far.

Joanie is predeceased by her parents Daniel and Leona Smart, her brother Bruce, sister Linda, Uncle James and Aunt June.

Joanie had many close friends including Gail Smart, who helped each other through thick and thin.  Fran Leroux was there for her, especially while “riding the high tides” together.

Joanie’s beloved water daughter Jennifer Harvey (Shawn), along with their seven children will also greatly miss her.

Celebration of life will occur at a later “safe” date.
