March 1, 1939 ~ April 2, 2020
With a heavy heart, we said our final farewells to our mother on April 2, 2020 in Orillia, Ontario where she passed away peacefully with her loving family around her. ‘Dixey’ was a sprightly-spirited and strong woman whose wit and warm-heart won the affection of those she encountered throughout her life-time. Dixey was the daughter of Herbert Frank Johnson (London, England) and Phyllis Ann Hollinger (Kirkland Lake, ON). Mom was a sister to Barry, Broderick and Phyllis. Her first husband, and father to their children, Philipp Anthony Didsbury, and in later years, second husband Glen Smith of Parry sound. All of whom are now deceased. Dixey is survived by her younger brother, Martin Johnson of North Bay, Ontario, her children Michael Anthony Didsbury, Kelly Ann Didsbury-Dunlop, Kathleen Annette Didsbury Orr and Richard Anthony Didsbury. She also leaves behind her many nieces and nephews, her 10 grand-children and 10 great-grandchildren. The family would also like to take this time to thank Leacock Care Centre for their loving dedication to our mother these past years, and also to Carson Funeral Homes of Orillia for their compassionate guidance during this difficult time. Due to the Covid 19 virus outbreak, there will not be a service. Instead, we ask that you plant a tree or flower in your garden this Spring in honour of her memory, or make a donation to your local Alzheimers Society. Arrangements entrusted to the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595.
