Remembering Garnet Earl Morton

Passed peacefully with his family by his side at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Orillia on Wednesday June 20, 2018 in his 76th year. Garnet, loving husband to Patricia, will be sadly missed by his children Colin (Liisa), Greg (Jenn), and Tina (Andrew Deir) Morton, and by his grandchildren Grace, James, and Henry. Garnet is survived by his brother Stuart (Shirley, predeceased) and by his sister Betty (Jim) Adams. Garnet worked for Russel Metals for 30 years before purchasing the new steel division of Francoz Metal and evolving into what is known as Morton Metals today. Garnet was active in his community through the Rotary Club of Orillia, and he was a long-time member of Dalrymple United Church. Garnet loved the outdoors, ATVing, snowmobiling, and he had a passion for old cars. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Garnet’s life will take place at the Mariposa Best Western, 400 Memorial Ave., Orillia on Sunday July 22, 2018 from 1-4 P.M. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital Emergency Department and will be accepted by the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595.
