Remembering Gordon Clifford Smith

It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of Gordon Smith on Friday May 29, 2015, at his home in Orillia, after a brave battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by his children Kenneth, Gail, Terry, Kelly, Robert, Joshua and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers Robert and Norman, many nieces and nephews. Gord was born in Toronto on December 21, 1931, moving to Orillia in 1980. He owned and operated Birchmere and Champlain Manor Retirement Residences with his brother Norman. An avid fisherman, Gord spent many happy hours on Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe enjoying the companionship of family and friends. The family would like to personally thank Dr. Josiah Lowry for his dedicated care and home visits. As per Gord’s wishes cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595 on Wednesday June 3, 2015 from 11 AM until time of Memorial Service at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
